Cleveland Gaming Classic
This past weekend we attended the Cleveland Gaming Classic! This was our first ever gaming convention. We learned a lot, met a lot of awesome people… AND WON AN AWARD!!!
Throughout the day Saturday and Sunday we ran demos of a simple combat scenario. It felt so great to put our game out there into the world and to see people having so much fun playing it. We received a lot of great feedback that we are looking to address in our next update.
It's always interesting to see all of the unique ways that players take on the persona of their characters. One of my favorite moments of the demos was when a player using Nightshift's Phasing Aura to phase the support posts of a billboard out of existence, causing the sign to topple on top of the bad guy, trapping him and finishing off the fight.
This was an amazing use of "Hero's Favor for Flavor," a way to use your superpower other than a straightforward attack.
Shortly after noon on Sunday, we had a handful of people come over to our booth and ask us, "Hey, where were you guys at noon?"
"We were here promoting our game, why?"
"Because you won an award! Best tabletop game design!"
We were caught completely off guard; I was mid-bite stuffing my face with a taco when they told us. I don't think we even realized an award was possible. We were shocked and awed and definitely felt embarrassed that we missed the awards ceremony.
Most of all, our entire team feels incredibly honored that we were chosen for Best Tabletop Game Design.
Thanks CGC, we can't wait to come back next year!
